Getting to Know Shelby Sides

I have been “back” consistently writing for a short while now and one would think that I have my shit together, but I still managed to miss a week of my weekly posting schedule. Oh well, life happens right?

Aside from the six posts that have made an appearance in 2017, I have pretty much taken a year hiatus from this space to focus on well...life I guess. But it is now 2018 and I am back, better than ever.  I have been connecting with some new souls as well as touching base with friendly faces, and in doing that I felt compelled to share a little of who Goodbye Butterfly is - who I am.

I am Shelby Sides. A 5’2”, fiery twenty-something.

Before you get to know more about me, I would like to formally introduce you to Goodbye Butterfly. For those of you who have followed me along this journey, I apologize. I mean, it is incredibly rude of me to have not shown you this side of me for this long.

The meaning of Goodbye Butterfly stems from my desire to run. Since high school, I have been wanting this romantic escape from my past. I was fortunate to be able to pack my bags and start a new chapter in Northern Arizona for higher education. What I brought with me to this new space was my little gypsy heart and a whole lot of fear. Here I was: in a brand new room, at a brand new school, in a brand new state. Yet, I still felt like running.

2014 was the summer I started to let it all go and since the birth of this passion project, I have been set on growth. I have laughed, cried, cheered, and broke more times than I can count - for that I am grateful. I have experienced so many places and I have been touched by so many souls, so now I am using this space to give back.

I am a dreamer, a risk-taker, and also a little bit of a rebel with a bad case of wanderlust.

Dream, dare, and discover has been engraved on my soul and I invite you to join me, if not only to inspire you.

Until next time, tah.
