GOODBYE BUTTERFLY

Trespassing - North Shore, Hawai'i

Dear Butterflies,

With all of the open land available to explore on Maui, it is quite common to come across a "no trespassing" sign. Sometimes the grass really is greener on the other side, there may even be a baby waterfall or two in it for you. There are places where it is okay to disregard...and then there is not.

Keep in mind that you should always be respectful of someone's property as land is precious, especially to the people of Hawai'i. My little Japanese grandfather absolutely hates those neighborhood rascals who steal our avocados...and then sells them a block over.

By this point you should know, my favorite fence hop is the cliffside cattle house near where I live. It is fairly common to see a car...or five...parked on the side of the road. This is a pretty good indicator that there are some "rebels" enjoying the view. The last few times I shared with you the cattle house was not occupied. Low and behold that it is actually put to its purposeful use.

My little big sis and I were obviously forced to go to the other cliff that was not preoccupied with mama cows. Okay, if we are going to be honest we were slightly scared to disturb them. With a little more of an audience, we hopped over and were greeted with a green and empty field. As the overcast set the mood, we were left with our thoughts and the ocean mist.

What fence do you hop?
