Skincare for the Lazy (or Late) Millennial

Alright, you caught me. I like to claim that I am a morning person but realistically, I do my best everything at night. A solid nine times out of ten, I am a hot mess making a mad dash to the morning work traffic. I absolutely stay in bed until I have barely enough time to get myself together for the day job. Ask my closest friends, I am late to almost everything. Curse of a busy mind and a lazy body but I am learning to just embrace it.
My version of skincare back in circa 2016 included a quick rinse with bar soap in the shower and whatever lotion I had laying around. Even though I refused to wear my bare face out in public, I thought my skin was in the best shape it has ever been and it wasn’t until I tried something better that I realized that certainly was not the case.
If I had my past skincare routine, I would probably be late on a daily basis. Having to put on foundation to cover up any redness or breakouts would take away those precious moments in bed that I hold on to dearly. But at the same time, the four-step process just to prep my face for the day wasn’t exactly working for my current lifestyle. That all changed April 2018 and honestly, my relationship with mornings hasn’t been the same since.
The sweetest moments of my weekday routine that I actually look forward to are the ones that occur in between brushing my teeth and making my berry protein shake.
RE9 Prepwork Gel Pads
These gellies are a seriously gold and allow me to get ready to kick the day in the ass while simultaneously getting rid of the designer bags I tend to get from staying up into the wee hours of the morning.
RE9 Prepwork Soft Focus Veil
Comes formulated with SPF 30 to protect my face from harmful UVs while adding just enough tint to make me feel comfortable not adding foundation into the mix. And guys, this baby has a universal tint that is actually universal - we tested it! To me, this is a must-have product and now has a forever place in my bathroom cabinet.
So what does a typical morning look like for me, a lazy (and always late) millennial on the go?
6:00 AM - Up but not up. Checking emails, answering direct messages, and maybe...just maybe playing the latest mobile Harry Potter game.
6:40 AM - Mop of hair up in a messy bun, teeth brushed, and face rinsed. Once patted dry, I add the gel pads just below my lash line and leave on until I finish making my breakfast.
6:45 AM - Blend frozen mixed berries, almond milk, and Arbonne protein powder for breakfast.
6:50 AM - Remove gel pads and pat the remaining serum into skin. Squeeze a tad bigger than a pea-sized dot of the Soft Focus Veil and evenly spread over the face with fingers (the best brushes!).
7:00 AM - Sort hair out for the day and put together a somewhat matching outfit.
7:10 AM - Rush the little pup out the door and do that last paranoid check of the house before locking up.
Now that is best case scenario and most days start off with a pile of rejected outfits thrown on a somewhat made bed. Busy, lazy, late, or all of the above like me? These two skincare products are a superfood smoothie of plant goodness and fits pretty much any schedule.
What does your weekday mornings look like?
Until next time, tah.
